Max Lucado is a New York Times best-selling Christian author. He was named “America’s Pastor” by Christianity Today magazine, plus in 2005 Reader’s Digest declared him to be “The Best Preacher in America.” Everything Max writes is outstanding! Every morning, as part of my Bible time and prayer, I read several devotionals, including Max’s “God is With You Every Day!” Here is his selection for April 8.
Finally Face-to-Face
Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise! Psalm 145:3 NLT
On the great Day you’ll hear billions of voices make the identical claim about Jesus Christ. “Every knee will bow to the name of Jesus—everyone in heaven, on earth, and under the earth. And everyone will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord” (Philippians 2:10-11 NCV).
Multitudes of people will bow low like a field of windblown wheat, each one saying, “Thou, O King, art the most worthy.”
There will be one monumental difference. Some people will continue the confession they began on earth. They will crown Christ again, gladly. Others will crown him for the first time. They will do so sadly. They denied Christ on earth, so he will deny them in heaven.
But those who accepted him on earth will live with God forever. “I heard a voice thunder from the Throne: ‘Look! Look! God has moved into the neighborhood, making his home with men and women! They’re his people, he’s their God’ ” (Revelation 21:3 MSG). The narrator makes the same point four times in four consecutive phrases:
“God has moved into the neighborhood”
“making his home with men and women”
“They’re his people”
“he’s their God”
The announcement comes with the energy of a six-year-old declaring the arrival of his father from a long trip. This is big news worthy of repetition.
We shall finally see God face-to-face.
We will worship the Lord throughout eternity! So let’s worship Him today, and every day. What can we offer the Creator of the universe? What can we give to the Lord Almighty, King of angel armies? We cannot add anything to His unimaginable wealth and majesty. But He who has Everything deserves our praise. Even more mind-boggling is that He desires our worship! He is seeking those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:23). Let’s do it!
This Sunday, March 29, we will celebrate Palm Sunday at the 10:35am worship service. What an opportunity to wave our palms and sing praises to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the King of kings and Lord of lords! He is worthy of it all! Please invite someone to join you in the building or online for the Live broadcast on either Facebook (Honolulu AG) or our YouTube channel (Honolulu Assembly of God). We Livestream every Sunday to both locations and would love to have you join us – either in person or online!
Coming Up: Resurrection Sunday is the following Sunday, April 5. Please use the enclosed Invite cards to encourage your family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and classmates to join us in celebrating Christ’s glorious resurrection. The tomb is empty! Missionaries from Hawaii to India, Bruce and Teem Dirden, will inspire us on Sunday, April 19. We will also have a Potluck Fellowship Lunch that day, so bring your favorite foods to add to the table.
Aloha ke Akua!
