Know Christ and make Him known!

We are blessed to have Surr and Hailey Vang with us this Sunday, our newest missionary partners. They are making a Big difference for Christ’s Kingdom at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Students from all across Hawaii, the Mainland, and literally around the world have come to UH and are hearing about Jesus!

Get ready for an exciting report about what the Lord is doing at UH as Surr (pronounced “Sure”) and Hailey share about their ministry, Chi Alpha Hawaii, in the 9:30am Adult Bible Class and the 10:35am worship service.

What is Chi Alpha Hawaii?

From Chi Alpha’s website, xahawaii.com: “We are a movement of college students dedicated to knowing Christ Jesus and making Him known. We meet in various group sizes and settings. These gatherings are informal and purposed to collectively experience the power and presence of God through prayer, worship, and relevant teaching. We believe, expect, and experience the love of God through His truth, His people, His miracles, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

“We are focused on transforming our world locally and around the globe through receiving and releasing the supernatural life of God. We are focused on reaching and equipping ethnically diverse students in the campus community with an expressed focus on an international student community that best represents the Kingdom of God.”

Surr and Hailey’s bio: “Surr and Hailey both grew up in California and went to college at Sacramento State. During college they grew in their faith and their passion for seeing young adults experience healing and freedom in Jesus as they place their identity and trust fully in Him.

“Hailey graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development. During her time in college she felt called into missions and after graduating served as a full time campus missionary at Sac State for 3 years. She loves hiking, paddle boarding, and spending quality time with friends and family eating good food and having deep conversations with lots of laughter.

“Surr graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and felt called to give his life to missions. Surr served as a full-time campus missionary with Sacramento State Chi Alpha before joining the Hawaii Chi Alpha team. Surr loves trying new food, learning about different cultures, fishing, playing sports, and spending quality time with friends and family.

“Surr and Hailey got married in May 2022 and felt God leading them to join the Chi Alpha Hawaii team. They are filled with faith to see students know Jesus & are so grateful to have the honor of partnering with what God is doing in the islands of Hawaii.”

This Sunday, May 19, we will celebrate Pentecost Sunday with special guests Surr & Hailey Vang. Please invite someone to join you at 10:35am in the building or online for the Live broadcast on either Facebook (HonoluluAG) or our YouTube channel (Honolulu Assembly of God). We livestream every Sunday to both locations and would love to have you join us.

After the service this Sunday, everyone in attendance is invited to enjoy an ono-licious potluck Fellowship Lunch. Please bring your favorite foods to add to the table. Please don’t miss it!

You are invited to the “Celebration of Life” service for Elaine Eleas this Friday, May 17, at 2pm at Oahu Mortuary (2162 Nu’uanu Avenue).

Note: Last Sunday, Mother’s Day, my wife Shirley shared a powerful message from the lives of Zechariah and Elizabeth (Luke 1) entitled Believe God! If you missed it, please check it out at either Facebook, YouTube, or our website (honoluuag.org). And please pass it along to someone in need of inspiration or encouragement.
