He is Reliable!

Haddon Robinson (author, “Radio Bible Class” teacher, and seminary professor and president), shared the following true story in his book, “Focal Point”.

In the town hall in Copenhagen stands the world’s most complicated clock. It took forty years to build, at a cost of more than a million dollars. The clock has ten faces and fifteen thousand parts, and is accurate to two-fifths of a second every three hundred years. The clock computes the time of day, the days of the week, the months and years, and the movements of the planets for twenty-five hundred years. Some parts of the clock will not move until twenty-five centuries have passed.

What is intriguing about the clock is that it is not accurate. It loses two-fifths of a second every three hundred years. Like all clocks, that timepiece in Copenhagen must be regulated by a more precise clock, the universe itself. That mighty astronomical clock, with its billions of moving parts, from atoms to stars, rolls on century after century with movements so reliable that all time on earth can be measured against it.

In the same way, you can put all your faith and trust in the Lord because He is absolutely Reliable! It does not matter how small your faith is, the important thing is how big your God is. Is He reliable? Is He bigger than any problem you might face? Is He able to do “immeasurably more than you can ask or even imagine” (Ephesians 3:20)? Yes, He is and yes, He can!

He is Alpha and Omega (Revelation 1:8), the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last. He declares, “I am the Lord, I do not change” (Malachi 3:6). Jesus Christ is the “same yesterday, today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). He is absolutely Dependable. You can Rely on Him. You can be sure your trust and faith in Him are well placed.

Are you afraid to step out in faith because you do not know what will happen next? Learn a lesson from the animal kingdom. The African impala can jump to a height of over 10 feet and cover a distance of greater than 30 feet. Yet these magnificent creatures can be kept in an enclosure in any zoo with a 3-foot wall. The animals will not jump if they cannot see where their feet will fall.

Faith is the ability to trust what we cannot see and, with faith, we are freed from the flimsy enclosures of life that fear allows to entrap us.

Like the African impala, you were created to leap with joy. You were custom-made to stand up and step out in faith. You were designed to rise above any enclosure, from all limitations. You are called to be free in the Spirit!

Don’t let fear or doubt or confusion or uncertainty rob you of all the Lord has for you. Don’t stay limited behind the restriction of a 3-foot wall. Instead, leap in faith! Even if you do not see where you are going, the Lord will be there to make sure you are OK. He is “an ever present help in time of trouble” (Psalm 46:1). You can trust Him!

This Sunday, December 12, we will continue our Christmas series, “The Songs of Christmas”, with Zechariah’s glorious song of Faith, the “Benedictus” (Luke 1:57-80). Please join us at 10:35am in the building or online for the Live broadcast on either Facebook (Honolulu AG) or our YouTube channel (Honolulu Assembly of God). A link will be posted later that day to our website (honoluluag.org).

Coming Up: The Children and Youth lead a special time of Christmas worship on Sunday morning, December 19, at 10:35am. Parents, practice begins this Sunday in their 9:30am Bible classes.

If you missed last Wednesday’s online Bible study about Joseph, the husband of Mary, I urge you to check it out. No matter how big the problems you might be facing, the Lord is Bigger. You can find the Bible study online at the above 3 sites (Facebook, YouTube, website). Please share it with someone who might need encouragement.

Aloha and Aloha ke Akua!
