Saved by the Blood

Saved by the Blood

Jeffrey Ebert of Haverton, PA shares the following true story.

When I was five years old, before factory-installed seat belts and automobile air bags, my family was involved in a head-on collision with a drunk driver.

After a visit to my grandparents’ farm, we had been driving home at night on a two-lane country road. I was sitting on my mother’s lap when the other car swerved into our lane. I don’t have any memory of the collision. I do recall the fear and confusion I felt as I saw myself literally covered with blood from head to toe.

Then I learned that the blood wasn’t mine at all, but my mother’s. In that split second when the two headlights glared into her eyes, she instinctively pulled me closer to her chest and curled her body around my smaller frame. It was her body that slammed against the dashboard, her head that shattered the windshield. She took the impact of the collision so that I wouldn’t have to, and my life was spared (and after extensive surgery, my mother eventually recovered from her injuries).

In a similar, but infinitely more significant way, Jesus Christ took the impact for our sin, and His blood now permanently covers our lives.

Revelation 1:5-6 declares, “To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.” We are redeemed, reconciled, restored and so much more by His precious blood.

Blood equals life. The blood of Jesus Christ gives us Life: new life now, abundant life now and eternal life forevermore. His blood is the most precious substance in the universe.

Jesus died on the cross to take our place of judgment. He paid the penalty for our sin by His excruciating death at Calvary. His body was broken; His blood was shed.

His blood can wash away the darkest stain of sin. It can heal the most virulent disease. Coronavirus cannot stand against the healing power of His shed blood. Your worst sin cannot stand against the cleansing power of His shed blood. His precious blood cleanses every sin and heals every disease. O praise His glorious Name!

Next Monday, October 5, is the final day to register here in Hawaii to vote for the 2020 General Election online or by mail. Voters are eligible, however, for same day voter registration for the General Election at voter service centers here on Oahu; eg, Honolulu Hale or Kapolei Hale. The November election is crucial. Our nation will go in very different directions, depending upon the outcome. As Christians, we must vote for those who stand for Biblical values.

We will continue our new Sunday (10:35am) teaching series, Seven Letters to your Church, this Sunday with the first letter to the church in Ephesus (Revelation 2:1-7). Please invite someone to share it with you!

If you are not able to join us in person at 10:35am, then be sure to join us in the Live broadcast on Facebook. It will also be posted later that day at our Website and YouTube channel. Please share the online resources with others so they can be encouraged also.

Mahalo and Aloha ke Akua!
